Nitrous Oxide (commonly called laughing gas) is a completely safe, gentle, and widely recommended method of conscious sedation in pediatric dentistry. The child breathes a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide through a soft nasal mask, feeling calm, happy, and relaxed while staying fully conscious and responsive. Once the procedure is done, pure oxygen is given for 5 minutes, completely eliminating the gas with zero lingering hangover.
Full Mouth Rehabilitation under GA is recommended for very young toddlers or children with extensive tooth decay across multiple quadrants, severe dental phobia, or developmental/medical conditions where multiple chairside sessions would be traumatic. Under GA, all fillings, root canals (pulpectomies), and crowns are completed safely in a single appointment under full hospital monitoring.
